Call for volunteers to help the WMA chapter continue doing its good work.

Several of the WMA Chairs and Leadership have seen their tasks and roles expand over the last few years.   The WMA leadership and Chair position are all volunteer as you know,  but as our chapter continues to grow,  more help is needed.   Volunteering is a great way to learn how the INCOSE organization works as well as kudos on your resume for outside work. In WMA’s case too,  very little experience is needed, and most all of you have a wealth of it anyhow.

These positions usually just a few hours per month,  with very flexible arrangements  and little weekend work.     Most of the work is task oriented and specific; you will usually be expected to take a task and run with it to completion.  Mostly however, it is fun work with a bunch of really great Systems Engineers.

  1. Assistant Program Chair: Assists the Program Chair is identifying,  scheduling and coordinating speakers for meetings and other WMA events.   Work includes finding and contracting for meeting spaces,  and leading the coordination effort to ensure a smooth event.
  2. Assistant Communications Chair: Assist the Communications Chair is maintaining the Chapter web site, social media sites, newsletter, and audio/visual operations during meetings. In particular,  the chapter is looking for someone who can help keep the social media sites updated and may also have some familiarity with network AV technologies such as streaming.
  3. Assistant Treasurer: Assist the Treasurer in maintain accounting entries and bank management with QuickBooks.  Work with the WMA  Chairs and event teams to ensure correct and adequate funding is available.   Also assist in generating reports,  providing financial information to other WMA chairs (i.e., their expense balances) and helping get 3rd parties paid.  Will also work the Treasurer as we continue to improve the configuration and setup of Quickbooks.
  4. Assistant Tutorial Chair: Assists the Tutorial Chair in developing topics/course expectations,  coordinating instructors,  coordinating facilities (usually on the weekend) and helping to ensure the tutorial sessions are successful.
  5. Working Group POC: This is a new position.  We are looking for a volunteer to be the POC on questions about establishing Working Groups within the WMA,  bringing proposal and needs for the Working Groups to the WMA board,  be able to report Working Group status within WMA,  and provide knowledge and contact information for INCOSE wide Working Groups.

If you or somebody you know is interested,  please call or email Bill Scheible (703-244-9034) and he’ll get you connected to the respective chair.  You can also look on the www.incosewma.org site at the contact information and send an email to the address for the Chair you would like to help support.

Thanks for your continued support of the WMA chapter.

Sincerely,

Bill Scheible,  President,  INCOSE WMA
